Q: Tell me more about your role at ABC10 and what drives you.

A: As President & General Manager at ABC10, I lead virtually every aspect of the station’s efforts and the management of our more than 125 dedicated staff members. Supported by an amazing management team, my role includes overseeing the news department, business and sales operations, marketing efforts, community impact initiatives, and more. Having worked at ABC10 for more than30 years, I am driven by and most proud of these accomplishments:

  • Our comprehensive and award-winning news coverage. ABC10 is the most awarded newsroom in Northern California, recognized with five distinguished Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, an impressive number of Northern California Area Emmy® awards – including a special achievement award for overall news excellence – and many more.
  • Empowering others. I am pleased with the talented team in place at ABC10 and believe in empowering others to reach their full potential. I take great pride in watching my staff excel at what they do, day in and day out.
  • Watching clients succeed. Having started in Sales at ABC10, I love to watch success unfold for many long-time clients as their business grows and prospers over the years. Plus, I am driven and energized by new clients, new initiatives, new innovations, and new opportunities that deliver results in exciting ways.

Q: What kind of impact do you hope to make in California’s diverse communities? Why is this work so important to you?

A: At ABC10, we are guided by a “We Stand for You” mission and I work diligently to ensure we support and amplify our focus in everything we do. For instance, in our news department, ABC10 strives to represent each community and viewer it serves through empowering storytelling, impactful investigations, and diverse voices. Additionally, we’ve worked very hard to make sure our newsroom staff is reflective of the community we serve, which offers a rich diversity of experience, backgrounds, and viewpoints. We believe in a collaborative and inclusive approach and understand that every individual has valuable input and perspectives to share. However, our “We Stand for You” focus doesn’t stop in the newsroom. Our community service efforts in particular help to uplift our diverse and dynamic communities in important and impactful ways. Of course, I’m also very proud to serve on the board for the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce and of the incredible work they do in our community to foster and support a more diverse and inclusive regional economy.

Q: What is some key advice that has helped you throughout your career?

A: Looking back, I’m especially grateful for the advice I received when it was time for me to take on a greater leadership role at ABC10 – trust your instincts, play to your strengths and lead with integrity. These principles help me in my everyday decision-making and guide me in everything I do…in the end, success is really that simple.
