This is Sacramento is a collaborative effort between the Sacramento Asian, Black, Hispanic, and Rainbow Chambers of Commerce, in partnership with SMUD and Wells Fargo to celebrate Sacramento’s most important asset, our diversity. This is Sacramento will brand Sacramento’s unique place as one of the most culturally integrated cities in the world through the creation of art. The effort is starting with an art installation at the Sacramento International Airport, with a plan to expand into some of our most culturally rich neighborhoods.
Airport Art Installation
The airport art installation is designed to showcase the people, places and neighborhoods that make our region unique. A number of impactful community members and significant neighborhood landmarks were selected to spotlight through visual storytelling.
This is Sacramento has commissioned local artists Daniel Tran, architect/sculptor, Jake Castro, muralist, Brandon Manning, filmmaker/certified drone operator, Jerry Wang, content creator, and Carl Costas, filmmaker, to create an interactive space that tell Sacramento’s story of diversity of inclusion.
The space will be promoted as a destination for visitors and local travelers to recognize our region’s cultural assets and discover new places to visit and activities to do. This is Sacramento is collaborating with Visit Sacramento/Sacramento 365 to showcase large scale, community, and cultural events throughout the region in the monitors.
This is Sacramento will expand its efforts into our diverse neighborhoods, partnering with local artists to tell the stories of our communities. More information coming soon.
