Following the most recent news from Mayor Darrell Steinberg and Governor Gavin Newsom, our office is now closed until advised by health officials that it is safe to return.
The Sacramento Asian Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Team will maintain regular business hours while working remotely and we will provide information on our social media platforms regularly.
The spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) is having significant implications for the public as well as small businesses here in Sacramento. We have heard concerns from a number of our members about the coronavirus pandemic and its potential impact on their personal and professional lives. As the situation continues to evolve, the Public Policy team will be the front-and-center of policy-making decisions and will continue to advocate for Sacramento's small business workforce.
Below is a list of bills, laws, and legislations that the SACC will follow closely.
SB 89 by the Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review – Budget Act of 2019.
SB 117 by the Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review – Education finance: average daily attendance and timeline waivers: protective equipment and cleaning appropriation: COVID-19.
Sacramento Community Stabilization and Fair Rent Charter Amendment
Homelessness Gross Receipts Tax
We will continue to monitor AB-5 (Worker Status), Proposition 13 (Split Roll Tax), California Minimum Wage increase (SB-3) and its implications that it has on small businesses during this pandemic.
Meet & Greets
Due to the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, our 2020 Meet & Greets are now going virtual. With the current legislative session in full swing, our members need to stay engaged with their local elected officials. Our legislators play a key role in shaping policies that can make our communities and businesses better. In these precedented times we will talk about local ballot measures, candidates and address the ongoing impacts of COVID-19.
That’s why we want to offer our members a chance to hear from them and have them hear from us.
Our next Meet and Greet is scheduled for April 21, 2020, and we would like to formally invite you to participate.
Potential Meet and Greet Invitees for June 16 and September 15
President Nelsen of California State University, Sacramento
Mayor Darrell Steinberg
