On April 22nd, 2019, Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce hosted a Meet & Greet with City of Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly. This roundtable conversation brought together members of the local busi-ness community to discuss a range of issues affecting Elk Grove. The event took place at Thai Chili, a lo-cal API small business, and the discussion took place over a shared meal.
As a former activist, Mayor Ly realized that in order to make an impact in his community, he would need a seat at the decision-making table. For that reason, Mayor Ly decided to run for office. He was the first Laotian American mayor in the country.
Mayor Ly values small businesses and believes that we need to continue investing and supporting in our local small business community. Having a strong small business community will allow for an increase in jobs. Additionally, projects like Wilton Rancheria will create around 2000 new jobs and an additional 2000 construction jobs. During the conversation, Mayor Ly also shared his thoughts on the need to con-nect all of Sacramento through the construction of a light rail.
