On February 23, 2018 the 25th Annual Installation and Awards Dinner not only celebrated the works of the Matsui Family and their contribution to the Sacramento Region, but also, the immense impact of the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce. We entertained over 650 business owners, prominent leaders, elected officials, and SACC Partners for an evening of food, drinks, entertainment, and fun.
The night began with comedian Henry Cho - who cracked up the audience with his tales of being the only Asian man in his hometown in the American South.
As a surprise, the Chamber also honored CEO and President of 20 years, Pat Fong Kushida, by presenting her the Legacy Award.
The program included an asian-themed meal, a re-flection upon the works of the chamber, a preview of this year’s annual Internal Study Mission, a surprise award ceremony for Pat Fong Kushida, and the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award, accepted by Congresswoman Doris Matsui on behalf of the entire Matsui Family.
Unique to this year’s event, Pat Fong Kushida, Mayor Darrell Steinberg, and Chairwoman Damaris Perez participated in Kagami Biraki, the Japanese Sake Drum Ceremony and all 657 attendees toasted to 25 years of work by the SACC. Feedback was immensely positive.
