Honoring AAPI Heritage Month & National Small Business Month: Join Us at the 4th Annual AAPI Night Market

As the sun shines brighter and Sacramento comes alive in the springtime, May marks a powerful time of celebration and reflection: Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and National Small Business Month. These dual recognitions provide us with the opportunity to not only honor the cultural contributions of the AAPI community but also to uplift the small businesses that fuel our local and state economies.
At the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce (SACC), our mission is rooted in creating economic opportunity and empowering AAPI entrepreneurs. This month, we recommit to that work—recognizing the strength, resilience, and innovation that AAPI small businesses bring to Sacramento and beyond.
Why It Matters
California is home to approximately 4.1 million businesses, and nearly half are small businesses owned by individuals from racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds. These businesses are foundational to the health of our economy. In 2020 alone, small businesses owned by AAPI and other historically underrepresented entrepreneurs contributed $414 billion to California’s economy, supported 3.6 million jobs, and added $252 billion in value to the state’s GDP—outpacing the economies of 23 U.S. states.
Yet many still face systemic challenges that hinder their ability to scale and thrive. That’s why we advocate year-round for resources, visibility, and equitable opportunities that allow small businesses to grow.
Celebrate With Us: 4th Annual AAPI Night Market
One of the most exciting ways we bring this mission to life is through our AAPI Night Market—returning for its fourth year on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 5–10 PM at Capitol Mall in Downtown Sacramento. This signature event is where AAPI Heritage Month and National Small Business Month converge, offering a vibrant evening of culture, commerce, and community.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Live Performances by nationally recognized AAPI artists including Thuy, DJ Lex, and DJ SOOSH!
- Over 50 local vendors featuring AAPI-owned food, retail, and beverage businesses
- A Family Health & Wellness Zone
- Community activations that celebrate the spirit of unity, resilience, and innovation
Whether you come for the food, the performances, or to support your favorite small business, this night is about celebrating everything that makes our region dynamic. Don’t wait—secure your tickets now and be part of one of Sacramento’s most anticipated cultural events.
This May, we celebrate more than a heritage—we celebrate the people, the businesses, and the community that continue to shape the future of our economy. Thank you for being part of this movement. We’ll see you at the Night Market.
