The focus of our first pillar is the strengthening of underserved, diverse communities through leadership, educational and workforce development programs that target youth and young adults. Our chamber’s programs focus on three key areas: leadership, education and workforce development.
In concert with our Chamber’s mission of advocating and building sustainable communities through economic development, our Chamber has developed a leadership program designed to address the disparity of diverse leadership in the Sacramento region, specifically targeted to our young constituents – those 21-39 years of age.
Jumpstart 21 aids disadvantaged college graduates by providing the necessary training or “on-boarding skills” through internship placement. This placement addresses the growing disparity between recent college graduates and employment in small-to-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) seeking to secure a STEM skilled replacement workforce.
The Catalyst Leadership Program is a hands-on, 9-month structured leadership development program for young business professionals. During the program, participants develop an individual leadership plan; join a community, social service or professional organization; and meet with community leaders in order to forge key relationships within and beyond the greater Sacramento region.
