Economic Development for all Communities Initiative
In partnership with the other two regional ethnic chambers, the Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce and the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce has created a diverse small business retention, attraction and expansion program. The Sacramento Region is one of the most diverse region’s in the country. According to current demographic statistics, African American, Asian Pacific Islanders and Hispanics make up 44% of the population with the fastest growing populations, the API, and Hispanic communities respectively. And yet, of the 91,000 plus businesses located in the region, only 26% are minority owned. That gap continues to widen as this diverse population continues to grow. The three regional minority chambers of commerce are collaborating in their respective local advocacy efforts in order to affect diverse small business retention, attraction and expansion within the Sacramento region. This effort will engage and connect the diverse small business community with local elected officials to achieve outcome based strategies to help business retention, business attraction and business expansion within the diverse small business community sector. 2010 Event in support of the SACC Economic Development for all Communities Initiative: Economic Development for all Communities Initiative Alliance Public Forum - August 9, 2010
