The Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s (SACCF) JumpStart 21 Emancipating Foster Youth Program is designed to equip young adults who have aged out of the foster care system with 21st century life and work skills and match them with quality internships at Sacramento area businesses. The program is a 12-week life and work skills training followed by a 12-week internship program.
In 2011 the SACCF, in partnership with Volunteers of America’s Former Foster Youth Program, the Center for AIDS Research Education and Services and El Hogar Community Services, expanded its JumpStart 21 workforce development program to address the growing need to prepare former foster youth for adult life and enable self-sufficiency.
The goals for JumpStart 21 EFY are to prepare former foster youth for success to help them recognize their own capacity to contribute as productive members of the community, enable former foster youth to achieve self-sufficiency, and to address the need in our community to increase internships and job opportunities for at-risk youth.
SACC is continually looking for local businesses to participate in the JumpStart21 EFY Internship Program as internship providers.
