The Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce Foundation has a commitment to youth development. The JumpStart21 program is a collaborative youth investment initiative designed to give high-school students life/work skills in order to qualify for internships that will support their future career goals and aims to provide career and education choices for at-risk youth within the Sacramento Region.
Our JumpStart21 Program connects area youth looking for a competitive advantage when it comes to internship opportunities with local employers looking for outgoing and talented young people excited to learn about their industries.
JumpStart21 is a collaborative effort between the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce Foundation (SACCF), Linking Education and Economic Development (LEED) and Los Rios Community College District‘s Next Skills Institute (NSI). Each of these primary partners will play a unique role in presenting JumpStart21, a collaborative Youth Investment Initiative, to the community in order to address the growing need for adequately preparing our youth as this region’s future workforce.
This program addresses the need in our community to increase internships and job opportunities for at-risk youth, especially youth in our most challenged communities.
SACC has partnered with Gateway Community Charters School and the program was launched at Sacramento Academic & Vocational Academy (SAVA) and Community Collaborative Charter School (CCCS).
Since 2010, Jumpstart 21 has graduated over 200 students from this workforce development training course.
